Barangay exec, wife nabbed for P120,000 worth of shabu


By Jorge Hallare LEGAZPI CITY --- A combined police team arrested a village official and his wife for possession of four plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) valued at P120,000 inside their house in Uson, Masbate on Friday, said a report that reached the headquarters of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Bicol here in Camp Simeon Ola on Saturday. Sr. Insp. Ma. Luisa Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said the police team served a search warrant on the couple, identified as Diego Lorejas, 38, an incumbent village councilman, and wife Teresa “Tesang,” 39, at 5:52 a.m. Friday inside their house in Barangay Morocborocan, Uson. The couple, who were marked as “high value targets” in the police’s anti-illegal drug campaign, yielded 13.713 grams of “shabu”, Calubaquib said. “Diego is ranked number five among the provincial ‘drug personalities’ of Masbate ang ranked number one among the drug personalities in Uson town,” she added. The arresting lawmen were composed of drug enforcement teams from the Municipal Police Office (MPO) and Provincial Police Office, Provincial Public Safety Company led by Chief Insp. Paul Cabug and Uson MPO headed by Chief Insp. Emerson Ecalnir. Judge Teofilo Tambago of the Regional Trial Court Branch 46 in Masbate City had issued the search warrant served by the police. The Lorejas couple, now in the custody of Masbate PPO, will face charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
