Drunken man kills son
By Juan Escandor Jr. TINAMBAC, Camarines Sur --- A drunken man stabbed and killed his own son in the Barangay Mananao, this town, Tuesday night, following an altercation between the two. The suspect fled after the tragic incident and remains at-large as of yesterday, Jan 17. Nelly Medina, 54, narrated that her husband Antonio, 53, was drinking liquor inside their house with her other son in the afternoon of Jan. 16 until father and son started arguing. Nelly said that because she could not pacify Antonio she fetched her son Arnel, 19, who was watching television in their neighbor’s house. She said Arnel was hesitant to come home but was finally persuaded to pacify Antonio and her other son who were already yelling at each other. Nelly said Arnel tried to pacify his father and brother but Antonio shouted at Arnel reminding him that he is the father. The situation escalated to the point that Arnel punched his father Antonio. While Arnel had his hand covering his face to feel sorry for punching his father, the latter, without a word, pulled a jungle knife from the back of his pants and stabbed his son. Nelly said Antonio left in haste while Arnel was sprawled blooded on the floor of their house. She said her son was already losing his consciousness when she and his siblings carried him outside of their house beside the road to hitch a ride to the hospital. Nelly said a public utility jeepney passed by but it did not care to stop until a tricycle came by. But unfortunately, she said, Arnel was declared dead on arrival at the Tinambac District Hospital. Nelly said she is doubly in grief because it is only Arnel, who worked as laborer, who would give money for the daily fare of his siblings to school. She said she will file parricide case against her husband Antonio.
