Fr. Rex Ordained as New Bishop of Daet
The Episcopal Ordination of the Most Rev. Rex Andrew Clement Alarcon, D.D. as the Bishop of Daet, was held last Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist.
It was presided over by the Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, O.C.D, D.D. Archbishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Adolfo Tito Yllana Archbishop and the Apostolic Nuncio to Australia and Most Rev. Manolo A. Delos Santo, D.D. Bishop of Virac. The celebration has been concelebrated by several bishops and the Papal Nuncio Most Rev. Gabriele Giordano Caccia, D.D. Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.
The Vice President of the Philippines graced the said ordination with her presence together with other government officials. A number of clergies and religious sisters and brothers from different dioceses and religious congregations showed their support by attending the said ordination.
Students from the Naga Parochial School and from the Holy Rosary Minor and Major Seminaries felt inspired knowing that Bishop Rex was an alumnus of their institutions.
Securities, media, and wide television screens were positioned at the vicinity of the Metropolitan Cathedral for public safety and wide access to the said event.
After the solemn Episcopal Ordination, a simple reception was held at the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary.
The Episcopal Ordination ignited a new hope and joy for the whole Church especially for the people of Daet for, after a few years, a new bishop is now ready to render his service for the people of God.
