10 Naga students join sister city tour
Ten high school students from Naga City are joining the tour of Shishi City in the province of Fujian, in the People’s Republic of China this month.
The ten lucky students were selected by businessman and former Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) chairman Engr. Aquiles Lo, Naga coordinator for the tour.
According to Engr. Lo, this program of sending students to Naga City’s sister city Shishi is on its 4th year. Shishi City has a sisterhood agreement with Naga City, he added. In fact, Shishi City has donated a building to the Naga City Science High School worth P5M.
Sponsor of the tour is the Filipino-Shishi Townmate Association. All expenses, from airfare to meals and accommodations, are shouldered by the association, giving the students a delightful and insightful experience in their young age. It is a happy trip that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
A total of 50 students will be going to the Shishi City tour, said Engr. Lo. 40 of them are from Metro Manila while 10 are from Naga, and this is because Shishi is a sister city of Naga.
The ten high school students are: Estifanie H. Meer, Leila Isabel T. Sto. Domingo, Jade Finella R. Bongat, Samuel Jaime A. Acabado, Russel Andrei Rivera of Naga City Science High School; Lois Kate Constantino, Celine Andrea Tam, Carmel Therese Cu, Ray Mark Tapel of Ateneo de Naga High School, and; Aldwin Mark Enteria of St. Joseph School. Marissa P. Esmeralda of Naga City Science High School is the teacher-chaperone of the kids.
Included in the tour are the cities of Beijing and Jinjiang. They will be arriving from Manila in Beijing and leaving for Manila from Jinjiang. The students and their chaperone will be in China from May 7 to 18.
