Villafuerte, Fortuno, Fuentebella post wins

NAGA CITY --- Father and son LRay and Migs Villafuerte are coming out triumphant as re-elected Camarines Sur 2nd district congressman and provincial governor, respectively.

But two of their family members, patriarch Luis Villafuerte and cousin Nonoy Villafuerte Magtuto, apparently failed in their respective fierce battles with incumbent 3rd district congressman Gabby Bordado and first-time 4th district congressional aspirant Arnie Fuentebella.

Migz, according to partial unofficial results aggregated from Comelec data as of yesterday (Wednesday) morning, had garnered 412,973 votes against Nonoy Andaya’s 407,691 votes.

In the 1st congressional district, however, Marissa Andaya, wife of congressman and gubernatorial candidate Nonoy Andaya, sailed it smoothly against comedian-actor Long Mejia. Marissa had 61,211 votes while Mejia could only muster 29,150 votes.

LRay churned out 80,029 votes against Maribel Andaya-Eusebio’s 76,615 votes in the second congressional district.

In the 3rd congressional district, Gabby Bordado appears headed to landslide win with 102,929 votes against Luis Villafeurte’s 81,304 votes. Former Naga City Mayor and Congressman Cho Roco, came poorly in third with measly 31,446 votes.

In the fourth congressional district, the Fuentebellas prove once more that they are king in their own Partido district as young Fuentebella son Arnie chalked up 120,186 votes against youthful upstart Nonoy Maguto who had etched 93,889 votes to his name.

Jo Fortuno, the wife of outgoing 5th district congressman Sal Fortuno, marched along comfortably with her 115,355 votes against Peachy Alfelor of the popular political clan in the Rinconada district who could only cough up 83,392 votes at the polls.

After the dusts have settled, it became obvious that the old dynastic political clans -- the Villafuertes, the Andayas, and the Fuentebellas, despite the defeat of some of their kin (except for the latter) -- will still continue to rule it over in the local political scene.

Meanwhile, in Iriga City, incumbent City Mayor Madel Alfelor (LP) remains strong with her 29,975 votes against her cousin Emmanuel Alfelor Jr’s 22,518 votes. The challenger Alfelor is with PDP-Laban.
