P1.3B Tinambac-Siruma highway completed

SIRUMA, Camarines Sur — DPWH District Engineer Gemma Timbang of the 4th Engineering District in Camarines Sur, or Partido area yesterday said that the 39 kilometer Tinambac-Siruma highway that used to be a rough road and muddy was almost impossible to traverse during rainy days. But then, Congressman Arnulfo “Noli” Fuentebella who was also so concerned about the problem immediately work for its conversion to a national secondary highway under Republic Act 8150. And upon its conversion former District Engineer Eduardo Nieto right away started the repair work to make the road passable to all kinds of vehicles along a mountainous area overlooking north east of the pacific, while to your right on your way to the town proper is a large deep sea water of Caramoan peninsula and the far away deep bluish island of Catanduanes.

And Timbang in her added statement also said that before in going to Siruma, it takes 4 to 7 hours from the city of Naga, but lately, it has been reduced to one and half to two hours. In fact, the place is now frequented by foreign and domestic tourists that they even narrated of their exciting.and remarkable experiences and adventures in Angilica Paradise beach and resort. The shore on its upper portion with white sand is fully planted with Agoho, small coconut and other small tress, so its fresh for those spending a day or two in the beach.

They also have within the vicinity the ongoing construction of the beautiful Immaculate Conception church with Saint Michael de Archangel up on a hill which is a walking distance from the resort.

One may also recall that some years back in going to Siruma, the people there have to travel by boat on a coastal sea water from Tinambac town and the length of time spent was so much especially if the sea water is rough due to bad weather.

However, to alleviate that sad memories and sufferings of the Sirumans while traveling along dilapidated roads for almost a quarter of a century - Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar immediately resumed the release of funds under Pres. Duterte’s program to build better roads in far distant places of the country to facilitate the movement of the Filipino people.

Timbang also reported that the new highway is now provided with brand railings on both sides, several box culverts, reflective traffic paints on center and edge lines and new bridges. Said new road with its breathtaking scenery is now so beautiful in this part of Bicol in region 5.

And after all the efforts and time spent by the dpwH the motorists, the rising public and the people of Siruma and Tinambac are so grateful to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Cong. Arnulfo “Noli” Fuentebella, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the Dpwh regional officials headed by Director Vergilio C. Eduarte, those in the DPWH fourth Engineering district, particularly to former district engineer Eduardo Nieto and todate, the hardworking Lady District Engineer Gemma TiMbang and her staff for their indefatigable efforts to serve the public interest, the report said.
