Naga’s TESDA hub to rise soon

NAGA CITY --- Nagueños who wish to develop technical skills and train in vocational courses need not go far as a training hub of the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will soon rise here.

TESDA director general Sec. Isidro Lapeña led the groundbreaking ceremony of the site of the training center along Almeda Highway in Naga City recently. The signing of the deed of donation for the lot where the TESDA Hub will be erected was also done during the ceremony.

Lapeña said the hub will be a great help for Nagueños in terms of producing skilled workers, who employment will provide beneficial effect to the economy of the city.

“This hub is where you can conduct your training and deliver a more efficient skills training. At the same time, the number one beneficiaries are the Nagueños themselves, because the training center is in Naga, no need for them to go to other places to be trained. It benefits directly the Nagueños,” Lapeña said.

Mayor Nelson Legacion recognized the importance of the TESDA Hub and he expressed optimism that the facility will create new opportunities for Nagueños to hone their skills and capabilities, as more technical and vocational courses will be available to them so they can have decent jobs, thus improving their quality of life.

TESDA training is an additional benefit in our city. And because it is located here, it can encourage more people to avail of the training that TESDA is going to provide. To uplift the kind of living and quality of life are the purposes that we repeatedly say, Legacion said.

The Naga City government provided the land for the construction of TESDA Hub that includes the land at the Metro Naga Skills and Development Center, the TESDA Innovation Center, Metro Naga Training Center, and the TESDA Camarines Sur Provincial Office.

The TESDA Hub will also be complementary to the City College of Naga, where required general courses can be taught at the City College of Naga, while technical courses can be taken at the TESDA Hub. In this way, it will complete the education that the learners and trainees will get.

I believe along with other workers in the local government of Naga and TESDA that the more we have knowledgeable and productive citizens, the more we can have a developed and happy community, Legacion said. (JRM-PIAV/Camarines Sur)
