AKO Bicol delivers goods, boats to CamSur

By Jason B. Neola

IN response to the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, the Ako Bicol Partylist has distributed 10,000 relief packages to various municipalities in Camarines Sur, providing much-needed assistance to affected residents.

The relief items, which include essential supplies such as rice, canned goods, instant noodles, coffee, milk, and sugar, were provided to help meet the immediate needs of typhoon survivors, many of whom were displaced or left with homes submerged in floodwaters.

Rep. Zaldy Co of Ako Bicol emphasized the party’s commitment to extending further assistance as needed. “Ako Bicol is willing to deliver more goods if it will help alleviate the struggles of the affected Camarinenses, especially those whose homes were inundated by floodwaters,” he said.

He highlighted that beyond the relief packs, the partylist is exploring additional support for individuals left homeless by the typhoon, with a focus on aiding vulnerable and low-income families in rebuilding their lives.

Co expressed his gratitude to the volunteers whose efforts made the swift delivery of relief possible, underscoring the importance of unity among Bicolanos in times of crisis. “It is the unity and cooperation of Bicolanos that strengthen all of us,” he said, affirming the resilience of the community.

In addition to the relief distribution, Ako Bicol donated eight rubber boats to the provincial government of Camarines Sur. The boats, which will assist in the efficient delivery of goods and services to flood-affected areas, were warmly received by Rep. LRay Villafuerte of the province’s 2nd district.

Villafuerte acknowledged the aid from Ako Bicol and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, a close political ally of Co, as instrumental in addressing the immediate needs of flood victims. “Ako Bicol has shown it can be relied upon in both good times and difficult moments,” Villafuerte said, highlighting the significance of the rubber boats in reaching communities during emergencies.

Rep. Co, known for his commitment to the welfare of Bicolanos, assured the people of Camarines Sur of his continued support, with a promise to assist the affected communities as they cross the path to recovery.
