ARCHBISHOP’S MESSAGE: Peñafrancia Fiesta 2022
After two years and a half of low key celebration of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, now we are blessed with our usual celebration to pay homage and honor our Ina, Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
And for this year we have a very beautiful theme: “Mary our Mother accompanies us in our journey towards the Synodal Church.”
This is the call of Pope Francis that all the churches in the world should become Synodal. Meaning to say, experience the church that is deep in communion, actively participating, and above all, geared towards the missions.
And certainly our Blessed Mother is our model of these three elements of a Synodal Church.
Mary who is in deep communion with the Blessed Trinity, Mary who participates in the will of God, and Mary whose life is a proclamation of the good news of Jesus.
Indeed, God is with us through the Blessed Mother Mary who accompanies us to become the Synodal Church God wants us to be.
My dear brothers and sisters during this Fiesta of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, let us deepen our sense of communion, Let us actively participate and let us open our hearts towards a missionary church.
The Blessed Mother journeys with us, enlightens us, accompanies us, and above all, encourages us in this beautiful mission.
Our celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, will become all the more relevant and meaningful when we embrace the theme of our Pope Francis, who says : “let us journey as a Synodal Church glorifying Almighty God.”
Let us listen to Almighty God, Let us listen to each other, And above all, let us listen to the cry of the poor.
May our Blessed Mother truly accompanies us in our journey to become a Synodal Church. This is the best way that we can celebrate this year’s fiesta of our INA, Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
Viva la Virgen!
Viva el Divino Rostro!
Come, join us! Let us journey with our Blessed Mother to become that active and caring Synodal Church that God wants us to be. Amen.
