TALISAY, CAMARINES NORTE – What started as a post-pandemic mental health intervention in 2022 has now evolved into one of the most anticipated endurance races in the country. On April 27, 2025, the Bantayog Talisay Triathlon returns for its 4th year, challenging triathletes once again with the “toughest swim in Bicolandia.”

The event, pioneered by the Camarines Norte Triathlon Team in collaboration with the Municipal Tourism Office of LGU Talisay, has gained a strong following from athletes nationwide. Known for its grueling open-water swim and scenic yet demanding course along the Cory Aquino Boulevard—the longest coastal boulevard in the Philippines spanning five municipalities—the triathlon has not only become a proving ground for elite competitors but also a movement promoting outdoor sports among CamNorteños.
Many participating triathletes have compared the Bantayog Talisay Triathlon to branded triathlon events, praising its well-organized race experience at a significantly more affordable registration fee. This affordability, combined with the race’s unique challenges and warm local hospitality, has been a major reason why athletes keep coming back year after year.
From the organizers’ perspective, the event isn’t driven by profit but by a greater mission—to promote sports tourism in Camarines Norte, generate economic opportunities for small businesses through increased tourist arrivals, and encourage locals to embrace the health benefits of sports.
From its humble beginnings as a way to promote healthy coping mechanisms post-COVID, the Bantayog Talisay Triathlon has cemented its place in the triathlon community. With more participants joining each year, the 2025 edition is expected to be the biggest yet, further solidifying Camarines Norte as a prime destination for endurance sports.
Will the waves of San Miguel Bay/Pacific remain unforgiving? Can returning champions defend their titles? One thing is certain—this year’s race will push athletes to their limits once again.
For triathletes, it’s not just a race. It’s a battle against the elements, a test of resilience, and a celebration of the unbreakable spirit that defines the Bantayog Talisay Triathlon.
