CamNorte benefits from gov’t info caravan
By Rosalita Manlangit
DAET, Camarines Norte --- More than 1,000 individuals were provided with services by the public information officers (PIOs) of government agencies in an information caravan held at SM City in this provincial capital of Camarines Norte last Sept. 17-18.
It was the 13th Information Caravan conducted by the Philippine Information Agency-Camarines Norte with the support of Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorteComNet) and the provincial government of Camarines Norte.
Susan Reyes, 51 years old, approached the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) booth and inquired about her certificate of full payment for her emergency loan.
“Maganda ang ganitong programa, kasi hindi na ako mamasahe papunta ng opisina ng GSIS sa Naga City para ito ay asikasuhin, at halos lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno ay narito at maaring lapitan,” said Reyes.
(This program is good because I don’t need to spend money for my fare going to the GSIS Office in Naga City, and almost all agencies are here and can be approached.)
The GSIS has no satellite office in Camarines Norte and only provides a service desk every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office.
Brian Samson, 19, a second-year student taking Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies at the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), went to the Technical Education and Skills Development’s (TESDA) booth to inquire regarding scholarships for short-term courses.
“I want to have skills in bookkeeping or health care because if I finished one of the two short courses I could have a part-time job to support my studies,” he said.
The GSIS served its GSIS Touch Registration, e-card enrollment, loan, and claim application while the TESDA distributed information materials about their technical vocational courses.
Nine (9) Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) of TESDA also provided enrollment of short-term courses during the information caravan.
Previously, the 11 information caravans were conducted in nine out of 12 municipalities of the province. Earlier this June it was also held at SM City Daet.
COMELEC Information Officer and CommNet President Rommel Pajarin convened the activity, in coordination with Information Center Manager Rose Manlangit of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Provincial Administrator Don Padilla and SM Mall Manager Lino Franco Morales also attended the event.
The other participating agencies were SSS, BSP-Naga, BJMP, BFAR, BIR, CNWD-PrimeWater, COMELEC, DICT, DTI, DOST, DOLE, DPWH, Pag-IBIG, Phil. Coast Guard, PSA, PENRO-DENR, PAGASA, PDEA, PNP-Daet, CNSC, CDA and PhilFIDA. (PIA 5/Camarines Norte)

The Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) offers pre-admission inquiries for students during the 13th Information Caravan/One-Stop Shop held recently at SM City Daet.
