DTI lines up yuletide-themed trainings in Camarines Sur

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here has prepared a variety of Christmas-themed free trainings for entrepreneurs this month, just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
As part of the DTI’s Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program, selected beneficiaries from Del Gallego, Camarines Sur, will receive sewing kits and training on Christmas throw pillow-making on Wednesday, Nov. 9, Wed.
“PPG is a livelihood and entrepreneurship development program of DTI and one of the calamity/COVID-response programs of the agency which provides livelihood kits worth not exceeding P10,000 to microenterprises under the priority industries being assisted by DTI including Processed Food Sector, Wearables & Homestyle, ICT, Tourism Support Industry and Service & Repair Shops (SREs),” DTI Cam Sur Public Information Officer and Business Development Division Trade Industry Development Specialist Madel A. Alacar said.
Through the program, DTI will also award handicraft kits cum Skills training on Abaca Products making, and awarding of kits cum skills training on woodcraft-making in the said municipality on Nov. 14.
On Nov. 21, Del Gallego fisherfolk will also receive kits and skills training on fish processing.
Each activity has an allocated funding of P162,020.00.
LGU Presentacion is also one of the recipients of DTI PPG’s livelihood and development program. Chosen beneficiaries will be awarded with handicraft kits and will undergo skills training on Christmas Novelty items-making on Nov. 24, this year. The project costs P161,100.00.
On the same day, DTI PPG will also award carpentry kits and conduct skills training in woodcraft-making and abaca product-making for chosen residents of Presentacion. On November 25, those who want to learn and hone their carpentry skills will be given carpentry kits and will receive skills training in bamboo craft-making.
The awarding of handicrafts kits and skills training on abaca product-making in Caramoan, Camarines Sur is also on DTI’s On November 25 timetable.
Alacar added that most of the skills training these “Ber” months are incorporated in DTI’s PPG projects which would focus on making holiday decors, “maximizing the use of available resources in Camarines Sur like bamboo, indigenous grass, and other home-grown materials.”
Other DTI-sponsored activities lined up for this month are the seminar on packaging to be conducted in Goa on Nov. 10, and the workshop on online marketing to be held in Tinambac, Camarines Sur on Nov. 22.
Included in the activities to be conducted is Feria de Camarines which will reel off beginning Nov. 16 to 20, featuring “Nuevo Negosyo.” It will be held at Robinsons Place Naga Atrium. (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
