From devotion to distribution, from regatta to relief

An old boat being kept in the Peñafrancia Museum was refurbished using fiber glass and was used to distribute goods to people in Naga City and outlying towns left with almost nothing by typhoon Kristine. From being an icon of a religious and devotional heritage to bringing Inang Peñafrancia’s love to people in need! The administration of the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Peñafrancia took action in restoring the decades-old boat in order to help Caritas Caceres to reach out to more people in areas which could only be accessed by boat.

Boat trivia: The said boat which was from the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Caramoan was used in fluvial processions during the time of Msgr. Juan Buentiempo as overseer of the construction of the Peñafrancia Basilica in the 1980s.
