The Shepherdville College (SvC) is the first in Partido to offer Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) courses. This school year 2020-2021, it opens another medical-allied course, the Diploma in Midwifery (DiM), which adds strength in the College of Health.

The SvC opened the BSMT course in 2012 with only ten (10) freshmen students. A year after, the BSRT course was also offered. To this date, the College has graduated competitive and highly competent Medical and Radiologic Technologists who are currently fielded as frontliners in different hospitals around the country and abroad, leading the way in combatting the transmission of the virus, popularly known as the COVID-19 Nobel Corona Virus.

From having just a few number of students, the College of Health has recorded almost five-hundred enrolled students this school year. As the College continues to prosper being the top provider of health education in the region, it remains focused in catering to the different needs of the students aimed at certain level of competence that is comparable with what the industry requires. With qualified and highly-experienced faculty equipped with state-of–the-art learning facilities, the college grows gradually to serve the larger community of Partido and its neighboring towns.

ON BECOMING A CERTIFIED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) is a four-year collegiate degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. It aims to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills of the students in the performance of clinical laboratory procedures needed to help the physician in the proper diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and prevention of diseases. The students spend the first three years of the program inside the classroom for intensive lectures and rigorous laboratory exercises. Moreover, the fourth-year level of this course is intended for the one-year internship program in any designated Training hospitals or in any CHED-accredited training laboratory. This internship aims to hone the students’ skills in the different sections of the laboratory and to prepare them to the real-life hospital setting. After having fulfilled all the requirements and graduated in the program, the graduate will become eligible to take the licensure examination.

ON BECOMING A CERTIFIED RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BS RadTech) is a four-year degree program designed to train students on operating various diagnostic equipment; such as, x-ray machines, mammograms, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), in order to produce images needed for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The college is committed to producing radiographers, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists or radiation therapy technologists in hospitals, medical offices, cancer centers, community health agencies and industrial centers. Likewise, Certified Radiologic Technologists are highly in demand at any medical institutions where radiation is frequently used for quality control and improved delivery services and practice of medical radiation technology as well as in promoting quality patient care, education and research. Successful graduates of the program are eligible to take the national licensure examination.

DIPLOMA IN MIDWIFERY

Diploma in Midwifery is a two-year associate degree program consisting of general education and professional courses designed to prepare students for entry-level midwifery employment. Graduates of the program are qualified to take the licensure examination given by the Professional Regulatory Commission. The SvC is dedicated to educate, train and develop its students to become competent, committed, proficient and caring midwives who are prolife advocates, responsible and preferred health care professionals in both domestic and global service market.
