TGP Partylist aims for 3rd term victory
‘Eyes expanded services for Filipinos’
By Jordan Domingo
AS the 2025 midterm elections approach, the TGP (Talino at Galing ng Pilipino) Partylist is gearing up to defend its seat in Congress and secure a third consecutive term.
On October 5, 2024, Representative Jose ‘Bong’ Teves Jr. officially submitted the party’s certificate of nomination at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Manila, signalling their readiness to continue their legislative efforts.
Currently serving as the House Deputy Majority Leader, Teves, a Bicolano, expressed confidence in the party’s performance and future prospects, citing their strong performance in recent years.
“We’ve made a tangible difference in the lives of many Filipinos, and with increased representation, we can do even more,” he said.
He underscored the party’s goal of securing three seats in the upcoming elections, which he believes would allow them to scale up vital programs in youth empowerment, healthcare, and environmental protection.
“I am optimistic about securing three seats in Congress, which would allow the party to significantly expand its programs and services. With more representation, we can enhance and double our efforts in providing essential services,” Teves emphasized.
TGP Partylist has established itself as a leading voice in Congress for these key issues. Their legislative priorities include affordable healthcare, with ongoing advocacy for lowering drug prices and reforms to the Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) program.
Teves called on the party’s supporters and partners to rally behind TGP in the 2025 elections. “We cannot afford to lose momentum. Our work has just begun, and the stakes are too high for us to step back now,” he urged, emphasizing that continued representation in Congress would allow TGP to further expand its services and programs to benefit more communities across the country.
Advocacies, achievements
TGP Partylist has made its mark in Congress by championing critical causes that resonate with everyday Filipinos.
• Youth Empowerment Programs: TGP has consistently pushed for legislation and initiatives that benefit the youth, ranging from education to livelihood opportunities.
• Healthcare Initiatives: Recognizing the need for affordable medicine, TGP continues to advocate for lower drug prices. They are also pursuing reforms to the Department of Health’s Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) program, including a proposal to eliminate doctors’ fees for indigent patients, providing much-needed relief for low-income families.
• Environmental Protection: With climate change and environmental degradation becoming urgent issues, TGP has prioritized protecting natural resources through legislative measures and community-based programs.
A record of service
Since its inception, TGP Partylist has actively delivered various forms of assistance to Filipinos in need.
The party has also extended help by providing gardening tools and assistance through government programs such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD), and the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Furthermore, the partylist has played a key role in infrastructure development across provinces and municipalities. TGP has contributed to projects like multi-purpose buildings, farm-to-market roads, covered courts, evacuation centers, and solar-powered water systems, which have greatly improved living conditions in rural areas.
A call to support
As the 2025 midterm elections draw near, Teves urged fellow Triskelions and TGP Partylist partners to rally behind the party’s bid for a third term.
He stressed that the stakes are high, and losing representation in Congress would mean scaling back the services that many Filipinos rely on.
“I’m calling on all our supporters to stand with us and ensure that TGP continues its mission in Congress. Together, we can achieve more and bring greater progress to our people,” Teves concluded.
